The project analyzes production and consumption activities that can be encompassed under the concept of socio-ecological practices and that are characterized by ecological embeddedness. Although the roots of this concept are to be found in economic sociology, its meaning is extended here to suggest that other practices of food consumption, mobility, ways of living, choice between basic consumer goods and forms of relating can also be seen as increasingly embedded in natural or ecological processes. In doing so, we seek to point out how the concept of ecological embeddedness could be operationalised in research practice as a means of exploring the ecological dimensions of many activities and practices of everyday life.
Our research aims to contribute to the academic literature and current public debate by developing the social dimensions of everyday practices that are embedded in the logic of ecological embeddedness.
Objectives
The general objective of the research is to develop a multidimensional analysis of the emergence and development of socio-ecological practices in Spain. In particular, focusing on both the multiple and specific aspects that make them possible, as a result of the interaction between various agents interested and involved in the construction of a more sustainable society and the reversal of climate change.
We understand climate change as the visible manifestation and symptom of a profound ecological crisis that requires research and transformative action. In this sense, this project has three interrelated analytical parts:
