Camilo Tamayo Gómez

Senior Lecturer in the Faculty of Health and Human Sciences at the University of Huddersfield (UK). Senior Transitional Justice Advisor at the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
His research agenda focuses on the relationship between violence, armed conflict, social justice, human rights and security from a socio-political perspective. His research explores how social movements and victims of armed conflict and contexts of violence implement communicative citizenship actions to claim their rights in local and regional public spaces; and how these actions affect the construction of political and cultural memory, the dimensions of social recognition and the degrees of solidarity and power in societies in conflict.
Camilo is a member of the British Sociological Association (BSA), the European Criminological Society (ECS), the British Society of Criminology (BSC) and the International Sociological Association (ISA). He is linked to the study groups on ‘Sociology of Rights’ and ‘Sociology of Emotions’ at the BSA, and is a member of the ISA Research Committee on Social Movements, Collective Action and Social Change (RC48).
