Ramón Llopis Goig holds a PhD in Sociology (1996) and is a Professor in the Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Valencia (Spain), where he teaches in the area of Sociology. He has been a visiting researcher at the University of Leicester (UK), the European University Institute in Florence (Italy) and the University of Cork (Ireland). Prior to joining the university, he held technical and managerial positions in several multinational companies in the food and market research sector.

In the last ten years, he has focused his research on the sociology of culture, sport and leisure, as well as on the relationships between consumption, structure and social change. He is currently a researcher on an ERASMUS+ funded research project entitled “Social Inclusion and Volunteering in Sports Clubs in Europe” (556994-EPP-1-2014-1-DK-SPO-SCP) and on the project “Socio-political impacts of collaborative collective action on social change” (Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness, CSO2016-78107-R). He has been part of the projects “Social responses to the crisis and processes of precariousness of life in contemporary society: Belgium, Spain, France, Italy and Portugal” [CSO 2011-23252, 2012/14] and “Life precariousness. The processes of precariousness of social life and identity in contemporary Spanish society” [CSO2008-00886, 2009/11].

As a result of his research activity, he has published several articles in national and international journals such as Revista Española de Investigaciones Sociológicas, Revista Internacional de Sociología, Revista Española de Sociología, Empiria, Política y Sociedad, International Review for the Sociology of Sport, European Journal for Sport and Society, Research Quarterly for Exercise and Sport, Sport in Society, and International Journal of Consumer Studies.
