Ruralim

The URV’s Department of Communication Studies and the Asterisc Communication Research Group are contributing to the study of the new collective view of rural life on the peninsula. All this in a context where a stereotypical image of the countryside has proliferated through idealisation, victimisation and ridicule. RURALIM, then, is a project that turns this idea on its head to identify and reflect on the narratives that present the future of rurality as a possible, sustainable and fairer space.

The project is defined on a humanist and culturalist basis; therefore, it applies an in-depth reading of cultural, artistic and audiovisual productions both in fiction and in the documentary and journalistic field. The objects of study are related to the new rural narratives with a presence in traditional and emerging media. Thus, productions in the fields of literature, cinema, television and new audiovisual productions will be analysed.
